I love making cookies with my daughters every Christmas. We took time last night to do that and watch Elf--it was fun! Gus even got into the spirit too. You'll have to check out his video, giving a bit of dialogue about the whole event. It is indeed time to slow down and enjoy family and friends and relish in what God gave us as we celebrate Christmas--a Savior!!
And the most wonderful thing to me at Christmas time is MUSIC! I have attended and been a part of (with my band Sister Grace) about 9 concerts. The grand finale was First Baptist Church's "Athens Christmas" and it was truly awe-inspiring. I love going with my Dad to that each year, and it was simply beautiful, ringing in the lovely meaning of Christmas. Thanks to Ryan Leffel for directing the Celebration Choir--he and they are so talented! Below is the spectacular scenery in the sanctuary from the balcony.
As far as recorded music, I have discovered some great new albums and enjoyed older ones as well, but I think my favorite this year is Sarah McLauchlin's Wintersong.
See my website and read more about Color Cafe beginning February 5th! Open to all painters! Join me in an inspirational time of painting each Thursday. Bring your own supplies, set up, enjoy Starbucks coffee, fellowship and laughter! Receive minimal instruction--not your normal workshop experience, but hey, I can't sit idly by when someone needs some help! Give it a try and see what you think. Open to any fun-loving painter with a positive attitude! $45 per class or $150 for 4. Makes a fantastic gift this holiday season!
I wanted to share with you Amazon's MP3 Downloader. You can purchase mp3s from Amazon now--just like iTunes, but better, since they are mp3s. You simply download the mp3 downloader, and it goes straight into your iTunes, album art and all! I love it! I purchased the entire album of the Carpenters (2 discs worth of songs) that my sister recommended for $18.99. Most mp3s cost $.99 or even less. Check it out! In the photo you can see the downloader window showing where I purchased Faith Hill's Silent Night. Music is everything at Christmas time--I just love it....
Ahh, Christmas shopping! The holidays are so exciting but can make a turn for the worse trying to find that perfect gift. Don't let Christmas turn into something that it shouldn't. Make it extra beautiful by giving the gift of ART--either a painting from Carole Foret Fine Art Gallery, a commissioned painting by Carole or even better--a workshop! See the schedule of great workshops on Carole's site ! People love receiving this little gift card for something artsy! Don't forget the artsy gifts in the gallery--art mugs, hand-made jewelry and crosses, hand-painted ornaments. Just come on by or order one of these over email, and it will be the best present your loved one will open this Christmas!
I have a list of things that I'll show you soon, but for now, I MUST share this--it has been a necessity on my hands. As much as I wash my hands, my hands tend to get dry, but add winter heating in the house, and MAN! My fingertips suffer. Then it's Bag Balm to the rescue! Try it! I got mine at Limestone Drug a few years ago. Yes! It lasts forever....and it's not just for cow teats either. :)
The punishment you gave me was the best thing that could have happened to me, for it taught me to pay attention to your laws. --Psalm 119:71
He knows every detail of what is happening to me; and when he has examined me, he will pronounce me completely innocent---as pure as solid gold! I have stayed in God's paths, following his steps, I have not turned aside.
Do you remember how the Lord led you through the wilderness for all those forty years, humbling you and testing you to find out how you would respond, whether or not you would really obey him? So you should realize that, as a man punishes his son, the lord punishes you to help you. Obey the laws of the Lord your God. Walk in his ways and fear him.

That God is still sovereign in our universe--He will ultimately be in control. Still.
That God comes before America.
That our main purpose will still be to win hearts over to God.
That we should still spread God's message to others.
That God loves you!
That our children will still want to spend time with us.
That the kitchen still needs to be cleaned and the beds made.
That paintings still need to be painted.
That your dog loves you.
While Claire was in Athens for our show in Birmingham last week, we were able to plan our next Creativa Painting Journey for women. It is coming up spring of 2009, April 16th-19th.
For sale tonight for the first time since it has been finished (2007) and since there have been numerous prints made of it (sold at AuburnArt.Com), Momma G's will be available to a lucky owner! Momma Goldbergs is the beloved deli in Auburn that has now given birth to one in Homewood, Tuscaloosa, and LaGrange, Georgia. Any Auburn student knows that Momma G's is where lunch or dinner was. I can still taste that awesome "Mommas Love"....

Last night was the grand finale to my Night class of Creative Spirit 2. I treat my class to a dinner on the last evening, and then we go back to studio and paint for a couple of hours and finish up paintings or begin one last one. We enjoyed the new Village Pizza just doors down from the gallery, and it was truly fantastic. (You must go if you haven't been already)
