Your Inbox...

I've been painting my tail off, as I say and trying to crank out commissions.  This large one I'm working on is really 8 paintings in one big canvas.  I've spent a ton of time on it, so I look forward to finishing it "soon."  You cannot rush creativity. ;)

Your inbox could receive a nice gift soon.  I'm sending out my e-newsletter.  If you don't receive it and wish to so that you can receive the latest info that I offer and specials, then click here or over on the side bar and look for it. :)

Have a great weekend!

Calling Creative Spirits

Coming October 1st - 4th is the next Creative Spirit Retreat Weekend. I was led to teach this curriculum beginning a couple or 3 years ago, and I have had the pleasure of helping many ladies become unblocked in the creativity or discover it for the first time! It has been a blessing to me.

I have changed this workshop from an 8-week workshop to a long weekend retreat, and am really looking forward to the intense solid amount of time that this weekend will be. The workshop is full of discussion time, lots of painting, meals together and yoga (optional).

This fall, why not do something amazing for yourself? Uncover that hidden talent, find that peace and joy inside! The workshop will take place at Carole's state-of-the-art studio in beautiful downtown Athens, Alabama. Meals will be shared at wonderful restaurants around the square, with accommodations available for a little extra to anyone needing to be here from out of town. So, ladies, why not give yourself a rejuvenating weekend of painting and relaxation?

Check current availability and either email or call 256 . 232. 2521 to request more information and to hold your spot. Availability is first come first serve. Tuition is required for your booking confirmation. Space is limited and best to reserve at least 30 days in advance.

Encaustic Basics Workshop Announced!

By popular demand! Tuesday Night, August 25, 5:30pm - 9:30pm, bring nothing but your creative mind and soul and learn an old method of painting--with beeswax! Mix molten beeswax and pigment and you have your paint ready to go.

Paint fast onto a hard board--we'll use clayboard, and let it cover and cool.  Then take your torch (as in above photo) and fuse that layer.  Create lots of layers and create lots of melted wonder!  Research the work of one of my favorite encaustic artists, Jasper Johns and see how he worked with this medium.

My flag is done somewhat in the flavor of Jasper's but is very much my own.  It is a diptych --made from 2 boards.  It is for sale in my gallery, and you can contact me for info! ;)

Encaustic is expensive to do.  The paint either is made (very time and labor intensive) or expensive to be purchased ready-to-go.  This is passed on to the consumer.  Just so people know. ;)

I learned this process just over a year ago in Carmel, California.  It has been so much fun.  I hope to share it with some of YOU!

Tuesday Night, August 25, 5:30pm - 9:30pm
Open to 4 Students
$495 per person

C&C painting journey!

Carole and Claire are now taking reservations for the few spots in our Italy painting journey week in the Tuscan town of Cortona September 11 - 18, 2010!
Cortona is a most charming walled town that Claire spent the summer of 1994

The experience was life changing!

The painting journey will include several hours of daily painting and instruction by Carole and Claire, creative spirit time, shopping and sipping cappucino along Via Nationale (Cortona's lovely main street full of boutiques, antique shops, dress shops, perfumerias, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.), and a day trip to Florence to visit the wonderful Uffizzi Museum and to see Michelangelo's David! We will stay in the heart of Cortona just a few steps away from Via Nationale at the beautiful Hotel Sabrina! Cortona is a walking town and boasts a gorgeous park and a 2-mile walk around the town giving you the most breath-taking
views from every direction that you will ever see!

Crab Night Fun!

Last night's Crab Night was so much fun!  I had a full house of fun folks, and we got to painting.

I love watching their paintings evolve from a white canvas as we tone first, then begin the first stage, then the next, then voila!  They begin to emerge one by one!

And the greatest, most fascinating thing is that they are all so different--very individualistic!  I love that!  Out of 18 people's pieces, none of them looks like another's.

And after everyone leaves, I use the left-over paint on each person's palette and tone canvases.  There was so much paint left last night that I painted for another hour and a half and covered over 14 canvases!!  I will have to hire an assistant to help me next time!  But look at the colorful pieces I have created.  Fun....
