Latest Workshop Schedule!

Before I leave for New York, I wanted to let you guys know about my latest workshop offerings. I have planned things by listening to YOU--my awesome clients and friends! They are all on my site and blog ready for you to reserve your spot! You know it's so easy to reserve, don't you? Right here on the blog sidebar is a Paypal button for you to securely and conveniently get your tuition in to claim your spot in any of these workshop events.

Creative Spirit is BACK!  It has been revamped too.  It is now a long, getaway/ retreat weekend. I will teach beginner painting instruction and share in lots of creative spiritually-based discussion over the weekend.  It is sure to be an amazing experience.  It includes yoga too!  Download the info over in the sidebar.  If you are an alumni, please share with others about how awesome this workshop experience is.  It is God's calling for me to teach this, and I am praying already for those who will be in my next one October 1 - 4.  

Creative Spirit Alumni!  You get your Reunion weekend as promised.  It is coming up August 27 - 30.  So download that info too over in the sidebar, and make your plans to attend. These will be offered regularly--about every couple of months or so, and as our Alumni group grows, you will be able to share with new people.  That is the way for this ministry to grow and for you to stay FRESH in your awakened creative spirit. Doesn't that sound awesome??

Inspiration Time!

I'm headed to New York City Saturday!  I'm taking my daughters, each a friend and my friend and her son and a friend.  Large group for a large time!  I can hardly wait.  I love the energy, culture, art, shopping, eating, shows and a Starbucks on every corner-- it's unbelievable...Above is a restaurant in Greenwich Village, Il Cantinori where I ate when I went with my friend Carla a few years ago--it boasts amazing Tuscan cuisine! The rest of the images are some that I posted as I thought about the excitement that New York City brings to me.  I can't wait to see my daughter Sarah's face as she sees and feels it for the first time!  This trip was planned for her 12th birthday last September.

Plein Air Painting Last Saturday

As you may know from reading a previous post, I was thrilled to be joining a couple of friends--Karen Whitley and Karen Smith to plein air paint at a farm in beautiful Tennessee last Saturday.  I wasn't able to upload pics as the day went since there was no cell service where we were.  So, I'm sharing a few shots from the day to express how awesome it was!  Mellissa Meeks put it together, and it was a fantastic day in every way.

Karen Whitely shot this of me while I was painting.  I chose to sit on the ground to get a funky view of the barn and closer view of the rooster cage.  So much fun...

Chillin' and assessing.  The roosters were amazing.  It had been so long since I had been around any.  It reminded me so much of my grandfather's dairy farm in Louisiana just being there.  Walking up and sticking my head in the barn doorway took me back with the smell of ground corn feed filling my nose.  Isn't it funny how smells can do that?

Art Camp Has Begun!

What a fun time I had with 11 precious little creative souls!  I am always delighted by their little comments and thoughts about art, painting, and anything else that comes out of their mouths.  They couldn't have been more precious today!

We are studying Van Gogh this summer.  We tried Starry Night on our own today.  I plan for them to create a large collaborative piece of Starry Night by the end of camp!  Can't wait to see that!

Art Camp Full!

My FUN Saturday!

 

On Saturday, I am taking time to do something FUN!  I am taking a class from another "local" artist, Mellissa Meeks up in Tennessee.  A couple of my friends and art students are going as well, and being outdoors, plein air painting sounds perfect this time of year.  Especially with all the rain that we've had, the weather is expected to be dry and about 85 degrees.  Perfect!  We are going to be at a farm in beautiful Tennessee painting an old red barn (much like this one pictured) and sharing a picnic lunch together.  I'll let you know how it goes!  If you're on Facebook, plan to  see painting progess while I'm there!  I love uploading images as things are happening.  Have you noticed? Pomp And Circumstance

This is the time of year that when I hear "Pomp and Circumstance" played at that certain tempo and begin seeing black caps and gowns with gold piping walking by, I just can barely contain my tears of pride and joy and fear for graduates.  It's hard to put into words, but I just pray that these mere babies will be okay out in the real world with all that new freedom.  This year I am celebrating 2 of my nieces, Catherine (left) and Madeline (right) as they leave the nest and head to the University of Alabama.  I just pray that somehow, some way, they will find their way over to the loveliest village on the plains though, where sunsets are a rich, burnt orange and deep blue! ;)
